Fishermen

Fishermen
Written: Maxima

They get up early, about 5,
Chat, still half-asleep
Then sail out down the river
On the waves of their dreams

Dreaming of carps, pikes, perches…
Their nets bulging…
And when a passing train whistle
They start cursing.

They swing their fishing rods, then churn
Their faces hidden under sombreros
Ending up in the shades of willow trees
In the loving embrace of mermaids

Hi Maxima, thanks for following my writing blog. I love the image and the poem. Did you write the poem on the spot? SD

I some how clicked from my reader into your blog, 🙂 Glad I did.. and I have seen you around loads on various blogs I follow … Loved your poem Fishermen… They hold so much respect from me, the patience of river fishermen and the stamina of those who fish in the North Sea off our coasts of the UK…
Your words create images in the mind.. a Gift… I am happy to stumble upon your page.. 🙂
    Thank you
    Sue
